About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been practicing social work since 1986 in New York. I have maintained a private practice in Manhattan since 1992.
I am a bilingual/bicultural (Spanish) therapist. With that said, my practice approach is to provide culturally sensitive therapy. This means understanding and incorporating the client's background, ethnicity, and belief system into their overall therapy experience. It's my view that helping clients draw strength from their own heritage can result in a more effective treatment and positive outcome.

Work Experience:
My clinical experience and training covers a span of over 30 years. I have provided mental health services to individuals, couples, families, and groups in a variety of work settings, including community based clinics and outpatient substance abuse treatment programs throughout New York City. I also have extensive experience in bereavement counseling as part of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York Hospice and Palliative Care Program. For over 10 years, I have facilitated an ongoing Spanish bereavement support group for adults. It is one of the few support groups of its kind in the NYC area.
In addition to direct services, I have provided clinical supervision to other mental health professionals. I have facilitated workshops, trainings, and taught on the graduate level at Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus (Brooklyn, NY).
